9 Kings is a roguelike kingdom builder from the developer Sad Socket, published by Hooded Horse and Sidekick Publishing. It launched in Early Access in May 2025, and the developers have announced version 1.0 for 12 November 2026. The key activates it on Steam for PC and Mac.

About 9 Kings

You grow a city into the strongest kingdom through combinations of buildings, units, spells and positioning. Your capital recruits units and makes them stronger, and you expand over time to survive decades of war. There are dozens of units, from knights and warlocks to wizards, bombers, imps and sentient mushrooms.

Each king starts with a different deck of buildings, troops and spells, and the rival kings who attack you can be looted for cards from their decks. Make peace with kings whose units don’t suit you, or go to war with those whose powers you want, then stack buffs and modifiers into an army nobody can stop.

• Async multiplayer: you face eight rival kings and see whose kingdom survives longest, climbing the ranks and earning cosmetic rewards from daily challenges and medals.
• Quest Mode: you travel the known world and take on its kings in challenges that bend the usual mechanics, collecting their crowns.
• Endless Mode: you choose a king and survive endless attacks from enemy kings and their strongest warriors.

The game is in Early Access. According to the developers’ notes, the full version is planned to include all nine kings and their decks, more perks and new game modes.

How to activate

1. Install Steam and sign in to your Steam account.
2. Select Games → Activate a Product on Steam in the top menu.
3. Enter the key from your order email. The game is added to your library, ready to download.
