The story opens as a portal to the Chaos dimension tears open and the four Ruinous Powers pour into the world: Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch and Slaanesh. Kislev and Grand Cathay stand in their way, while a vengeful Daemon Prince plots revenge on those who corrupted him. You can fight for the defenders or take the side of Chaos.

The game is built from two layers. Campaigns are a strategy sandbox where you build your empire, so no two play out the same way, and battles are fought in real time with hundreds of units under your command. There are seven races and ten Legendary Lords to lead, including a Daemon Prince you can customize piece by piece with body parts and powers.

Multiplayer is broad. It includes an eight-player multiplayer campaign, a 1 v 1 Domination mode, story-driven campaigns for Kislev and Grand Cathay, plus ranked and custom battles. Steam lists online and LAN co-op.
