RimWorld is a single-player sci-fi colony sim from Ludeon Studios, released in October 2018. The developers name Dwarf Fortress, Firefly and Dune as inspirations. This key activates the game on Steam.

About RimWorld

You start with three survivors of a crashed passenger ship on a distant world, and you build a colony from nothing. Every colonist has a background that shapes how they play. A noble is good at social tasks but won’t do physical work, while a farmhand is skilled at growing food but can’t do research, so your colony is always a mixed crew.

RimWorld calls itself a story generator. An AI storyteller controls the random events that hit your colony, from thunderstorms and pirate raids to traveling salesmen. You pick the storyteller: Randy Random is chaotic, Cassandra Classic builds rising tension, and Phoebe Chillax likes quiet stretches.

Day to day you manage moods, needs, wounds and illnesses, build in forests, deserts, jungles and tundra, craft weapons and clothing, tame animals, trade and send out caravans. Every game generates a new world, and the Steam Workshop offers hundreds of mods.
