About Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition

You fly the whole Earth. The map covers more than 1.5 billion buildings and 2 trillion trees, and the world follows real conditions: live weather, live traffic, animals and a day and night cycle that supports night flying under visual flight rules. The aircraft range from light planes to wide-body jets, plus gliders and helicopters, each with its own flight model and a detailed cockpit.

The game suits beginners and experts. A checklist system lets you scale the help from fully manual to fully assisted, with highlighted controls and interactive checklists. Behind it sits a physics engine with more than 1,000 control surfaces per plane.

The 40th Anniversary Edition brings the list to 37 aircraft and 25 handcrafted airports, and adds:

• an Airbus A310 airliner;
• 2 helicopters and 14 heliports;
• 2 gliders and 15 glider airports;
• 7 historical aircraft, including the Hughes H-4 Hercules, known as the Spruce Goose;
• 4 classic commercial airports;
• 24 classic missions from earlier games in the series.
