For this game, the developers kept their focus on listening to feedback from fans and players, and they have taken to heart many suggestions to improve from the previous game. As a result, the developers proudly claim that this game is the most complete football management experience yet allowing gamers to fully realise their teams and management careers!
To quote from the website: ‘FM24 is filled with new additions that deepen the immersion and elevate your gameplay experience with upgrades to set pieces, man management, squad building, Matchday and much more.’
The ball is much more responsive, and the whole set up: graphics, physics engine, motion capture – everything – is now designed to make the game so much more immersive and engaging, no matter if you are in the locker room, on the field, or behind the scenes working out your tactics for the season ahead.
The Nitty Gritty
Perhaps the most demanded improvement was the ability to transfer your game from the last iteration: something fans and players have been crying out for since forever. And now you can!
Technical improvements include more realistic and satisfying ball response and movement, improved lighting especially for match days, and dramatic improvements to the game’s user interface for a more seamless and immersive playing experience. Simply load up your save file and continue the game with your existing set up.
Other additions include, as always, new leagues, including three from Japan, reflecting the high calibre of players coming from that country. Japan’s three football leagues (called J1, J2, and J3) all join the listing of teams to manage.
There are new ways to sell players – see below for some details – and in this game, unlike the others in the series, you can actually go into debt to buy a worthwhile player, with negative transfer budgets now permitted.
These are not the only new features of Football Manager 2024: you will discover the rest as you play!
Selling Your Players? Here’s How
If you need to whip up interest in your saleable players, there are now a number of way to do this:
- You can directly contact agents to see how interested other clubs are in your player – and if they don’t respond, you can contact their intermediary.
- Intermediaries do expect 10% of the transfer fee, though, so make sure it’s worth your while to use one.
- You can set individual targets for each player to meet
- Set plays have been refreshed and improved
- The Transfer Room imitates the real world transfer list. While it’s a slow and painstaking process, you’ll save money and avoid arguments and disruptions in the locker room.
