How to Save a Word Document as a JPEG Image

Word 2021 - GGKEYS

There may be times when you want to share a Word document as an image format, such as JPEG, that anyone can easily view. While Word doesn’t directly support exporting documents as JPEGs or JPGs, there are simple workarounds. Here’s how to do it.

Convert a Single Page to JPEG

If you only need a single page or a specific page from a multi-page document, you can use screenshot tools like Snip & Sketch on Windows or the Screenshot app on Mac.

  1. Prepare the Document: Zoom out in Word so the entire page fits on your screen. Adjust the zoom slider at the bottom of the screen to make sure the entire page is visible.
  2. Capture the Page:
    • For Windows, search for “Snip & Sketch” in the Start menu. Open the tool and click “New” to capture the screen.
    • For Mac, press Cmd+Shift+4 to open the Screenshot app, then drag the crosshairs to select the area you want to capture.
  3. Save the Image:
    • In Snip & Sketch, click the floppy disk icon to save the image.
    • On Mac, select File > Export, then choose JPEG as the file format and save it.

Convert Text to JPEG in Word (Windows)

While you can’t directly convert a Word document to JPEG, you can copy text, save it as an image, and then convert it to JPEG.

  1. Copy the Text: Highlight the text in your Word document that you want to convert, then press Ctrl+C (Windows) or Cmd+C (Mac) to copy it.
  2. Paste as an Image: Open a new Word document and paste the copied text using the Paste as Picture option (right-click in the blank document and select the clipboard icon with an image).
  3. Save as JPEG: Right-click the pasted image and select Save as Picture. In the dialog box, choose JPEG from the file type dropdown and click Save.

Convert Text to JPEG in Word (Mac)

For Mac users, the steps are similar but with some slight differences in terminology.

  1. Copy and Paste the Text: Copy the desired text from your Word document and paste it into a new Word document.
  2. Paste as PDF: Right-click and choose Paste Special > PDF. This inserts the text as an uneditable object.
  3. Save as JPEG: Right-click the inserted PDF block, select Save as Picture, then choose JPEG as the file type in the Save menu, and click Save.

These methods provide a quick and simple way to convert your Word content into a JPEG image, regardless of whether you’re using Windows or Mac.
