Valorant Launches Open Beta for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Valorant, the popular 5v5 hero shooter by Riot, has officially launched its open beta for console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This update follows a period of closed beta access, with registration previously required for console gamers to play. Now, the game opens its doors to a wider player base, inviting console enthusiasts to experience its strategic gameplay.

According to announcements made on the Valorant X account, the open beta brings some notable features and restrictions. A significant detail is the separation of player pools; console players will be unable to match with PC users but can play with gamers across the PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

An exciting addition is the implementation of cross-progression between PC and console versions. This means players can seamlessly transfer their progress, including battle pass achievements and purchased items, between platforms. Specifically for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the benefit of automatically unlocking all agents is highlighted, enriching the gameplay experience from the start.

The open beta is currently accessible in selected regions: the United States, Canada, Europe, Brazil, and Japan. This phased approach ensures a smoother integration of console players into the Valorant community.

Riot faced challenges in adapting Valorant for console gameplay, primarily around the game’s shooting mechanics. An Xbox Wire post sheds light on the creation of ‘Focus,’ a tailored shooting mode for consoles mirroring PC hip firing but with adjusted sensitivity, ensuring a more enjoyable experience for console players.

For newcomers to Valorant, additional resources and guides are available to help navigate the game’s mechanics and strategies, promising an engaging entry into this competitive title’s universe.
